Andaman travel guide

India’s island paradise

The Andaman Islands feel like an international beach holiday without a passport. Swaraj Dweep (Havelock) has the famous Radhanagar Beach and the best dive sites; Shaheed Dweep (Neil) is a laid-back island of cycling lanes and natural rock bridges; and Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram) tells the story of the freedom struggle at the Cellular Jail.

Our Andaman tour packages include inter-island cruise ferries, beach resorts, snorkelling and scuba options. They are ideal for honeymooners, families and our Andaman group trips.

Good to know

Andaman travel tips

  • Book ferries well in advance in peak season — we include them in every package.
  • Carry a government photo ID for ferries and the airport.
  • Use reef-safe sunscreen and never touch coral.
  • Mobile networks and internet are slower than the mainland; Airtel and BSNL work best.
  • Carry cash on Neil and Havelock — ATMs are few.
  • Scuba is safe for non-swimmers with a certified instructor; fly 24 hours after diving.
Questions travellers ask

Andaman trip FAQs

Still have a question? Ask a travel expert.

What is the best time to visit Andaman?

October to May. December to March has the calmest seas; the monsoon (June–September) can disrupt ferries.

How many days are enough for Andaman?

5 nights covers Port Blair, Havelock and Neil; 6–7 nights is more relaxed and lets you add Baratang or more beach time.

Do Indians need a passport or permit for Andaman?

No. Indian citizens only need a government photo ID. Foreign nationals get a permit on arrival.

Can non-swimmers do scuba diving?

Yes. Introductory “try dives” at Havelock and Neil are done with a certified instructor holding you throughout.

Is Andaman good for a honeymoon?

Yes — beach resorts, candle-light dinners and private snorkelling trips make it one of India’s top honeymoon spots.
