The land of high passes

Ladakh is unlike anywhere else in India: a cold desert at 3,500 m and above, where Buddhist monasteries cling to cliffs, Bactrian camels graze on sand dunes in Nubra and Pangong Tso changes colour through the day.

Our Ladakh tour packages start in Leh with two easy days to acclimatise, then cross Khardung La to Nubra Valley and continue to Pangong Tso. Longer trips add Tso Moriri, Hanle’s dark-sky reserve or the full Manali–Leh or Srinagar–Leh road journey. It is the ultimate adventure holiday — planned so that it stays safe and comfortable.

Getting there

How to reach Ladakh

✈️

By air

Leh’s Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport has daily flights from Delhi (about 1 hr 20 min), plus Mumbai and Srinagar in season.

🚗

Via Manali

The Manali–Leh highway (about 430 km via Sarchu) is open roughly June–September and takes two days with a night halt.

🚗

Via Srinagar

The Srinagar–Leh road crosses Zoji La and Kargil — about 420 km over two days, usually open May–October.

Ladakh travel tips

  • Rest for at least 24–36 hours in Leh before going higher — it is the single most important rule.
  • Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol for the first two days and ask your doctor about altitude medicine.
  • Only postpaid connections work reliably; Nubra and Pangong have limited networks.
  • Carry cash — ATMs are mostly in Leh.
  • Inner-line / protected-area permits are needed for Nubra, Pangong and Tso Moriri — we arrange them online.
  • Sun is harsh at altitude: sunscreen, sunglasses and a cap are a must.
Questions travellers ask

Ladakh trip FAQs

Still have a question? Ask a travel expert.

What is the best time to visit Ladakh?

May to September is the best time; July and August are peak months. From October to April roads close and it is extremely cold.

How many days are needed for a Ladakh trip?

At least 6 nights by air (2 in Leh, 2 in Nubra, 1 at Pangong, 1 back in Leh). By road via Manali or Srinagar, plan 9–11 nights.

Do I need a permit for Ladakh?

Indian travellers need an online permit for protected areas such as Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri and Turtuk. We arrange these as part of every package.

Is Ladakh safe for children and older travellers?

Yes for most healthy travellers, with proper acclimatisation. Anyone with heart or lung conditions should consult a doctor first.

Can I do a Ladakh bike trip with you?

Yes — we organise Royal Enfield trips with a backup vehicle, mechanic and trip captain. Tell us your dates.
